H&Y Magnetic ND Clip-on Filter is designed as a cross-polarization cure for wide or ultra-wide angle lenses. Cross polarization is a physical phenomenon on VND filters. While some VND designs will give a smaller range of ND stops to prevent it from happening, H&Y had decided to keep the vast ND range of REVORING with VND&CPL, offering full coverage up to 10-stop for users of telephoto or medium-telephoto lenses. 4 Grades (ND4,8,16,400) are available for 3 sizes of REVORING (46-62mm,58-77mm and 67-82mm).
This ND4 67-82mm Magnetic Clip-On Filter for RevoRing from H&Y is compatible with select 67-82mm RevoRing filters to reduce exposure by 2-stops for finer image control. The added density can be used to increase shutter speed for increased image blur, like smoothing out water surfaces or to emphasize motion. It can also be used to narrow depth of field and increase background bokeh to better isolate the subject of an image. In addition, it can help avoid the phenomenon of the "X-pattern" that can form when using a variable neutral density filter on a wide-angle lens. By adding density to increase the aperture opening, the X-pattern on the image can be reduced or eliminated.
This neutral density filter is made of 2mm-thick optical glass with multicoating for optimal light transmission, and resistance coating to repel fingerprints, oil, and water for easily cleaning. The magnetic frame attaches easily to the RevoRing, and multiple filters may be stacked for greater effect.
When to Use a ND4 Filter!
ND4: Ideal for slightly reducing light without dramatically affecting shutter speed. Perfect for shooting in bright daylight to soften movements like flowing water or to achieve a shallow depth of field with a wide aperture.
